Invites Runners to Join Team Dog Star
Bloomfield, CT – April 22, 2026 – Dog Star Rescue has been selected as a Premier Charity Partner for the Eversource Hartford Marathon, taking place Saturday, October 10th, 2026 at 8:00 AM in Hartford’s Bushnell Park. The organization is calling on all dog loving runners and supporters to “lace up for a pup” and join Team Dog Star to help raise vital funds for rescue dogs in need.
Participants who join Team Dog Star will have the opportunity to run for an incredible purpose – supporting Dog Star Rescue’s mission to save abandoned, homeless and surrendered dogs and place them in loving, permanent homes.
“Every step taken by our runners directly supports the dogs in our care,” said Nichole Fortenbaugh, Executive Director of Dog Star Rescue. “We are thrilled to be part of the Eversource Hartford Marathon for the second year in a row – bringing together a community that is taking their passion for running and making a direct impact on rescue dogs’ lives.”
Running for Team Dog Star has many special “treats” including porta potties just for the team, free bag storage, awesome swag and an after party with puppies.
Dog Star will be holding an informational session at their Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield CT on Sunday May 17 from 4-6pm for anyone interested in learning more.
Funds raised through Team Dog Star will go toward medical care, food, supplies and more this non-profit, all-volunteer rescue.
Whether running the full marathon, half marathon, relay, 5K, or participating in the virtual 5K option, individuals of all levels are encouraged to join the team and make a meaningful impact.
