Key Requirements
The Fundraising Marketing Coordinator role supports the Fundraising Team for Dog Star Rescue. This coordinator will support the management of a fundraising marketing strategy that will help Dog Star Rescue maximize donor opportunities, sponsorships, and attendance of our four pillar fundraising events as well as other critical fundraising efforts. The ideal volunteer will have:
- Understanding of fundraising principles. This role requires a basic understanding of non-profit fundraising principles and techniques. This coordinator will be a key component of the fundraising team and responsible for raising critical funds for Dog Star Rescue through fundraising events and outreach. Previous experience working on fundraising campaigns for nonprofit organizations is required.
- Marketing mindset. As the Fundraising Marketing Coordinator, this volunteer will translate fundraising principles into marketing strategies to maximize donor opportunities. This coordinator will work closely with the Communications team to execute on a proposed fundraising-related marketing strategy. Previous experience in a marketing and event planning role or working with a marketing team is required.
- Attending pillar events. Our four key fundraising events of the year (Annual Gala, Rescue on the Runway Brunch, Bark and Brew, Golf Tournament) are critical components of our fundraising strategy. Attending these events in person allows the coordinator to acquire a deeper understanding of how the event works as well as observe the results of the fundraising marketing strategy in person. Other parts of the job will be performed remotely. All events are in the metro-Hartford area.
Nice-to-have skills
- Basic design skills. Working in Canva, be able to create graphics aligned with our established brand and tone. This includes social posts, email support, event support, limited print needs, and more. The marketing team maintains an extensive library of Canva graphics that are ready-to-use, and will ultimately review, approve and publish final assets.
Time Commitment per Week
3-5 hours (can vary depending on weeks closer to each pillar event date)
Working Conditions
- If at adoption events, dress casually knowing you will get covered in dog kisses, dog hair, and probably mud. Closed-toe shoes and long hair up is a must. When attending our 4 pillar events, dress appropriate for the event.
- Remote work, with access to a laptop, tablet, internet, and phone.
