Position Overview
The Volunteer Coordinator – Recruitment develops strategy on volunteer recruitment for Dog Star Rescue. They lead the following tasks:
- Identifies Opportunities to Recruit New Volunteers. Develops an understanding of what audiences Dog Star is reaching (in conjunction with the Communications and Events teams), and where are opportunities to reach new audiences
- Maintains List of Current Volunteer Needs. Includes receiving current volunteer needs from individual DSR directors and coordinating with the Communications team to advertise these opportunities on the website, or on our Facebook group.
- Seeks Volunteers with Specific Skills. Occasionally, we need volunteers with a specific skill set (experience using certain tools, certain professional backgrounds, etc). The coordinator will work with the orientation coordinator to identify incoming applicants who satisfy these needs, or strategize ways to find volunteers with these skills in the community.
Time Commitment per month
- 10 – 20 hours

- Excellent communication
- Interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask with the desire to interface with all kinds of people
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of volunteers
- Problem resolution and seeks answers independently and enthusiastically
- Demonstrates flexibility
- Ability to work with diverse personalities and work well under pressure
- Good time management skills
- Work independently in a collaborative environment, with good understanding in all the departments within DSR.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of the Google Docs suite or the willingness to learn.
Working conditions
- Remote work, with access to a laptop, tablet, internet, and the phone.
