Position Overview

The Volunteer Coordinator (recognition) manages the recognition of volunteers for their hard work. They lead the following tasks:

  1. Peer-nominated recognition. Maintains our peer recognition programs, such as the Shining Star award.
  2. Swag Identification. Identifies DSR swag to purchase and give out at volunteer events and as rewards for volunteers on various DSR teams. Collaborates with the procurement team to acquire items.
  3. Team Recognition. Works with individual directors for teams at Dog Star to identify opportunities to recognize and reward their team members for their hard work

Time Commitment per month

  • 10 – 20 hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask with the desire to interface with all kinds of people, lead, mentor, and train a team of volunteers
  • Problem resolution and seeks answers independently and enthusiastically.
  • Demonstrates flexibility
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities and work well under pressure.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Work independently in a collaborative environment, with good understanding in all the departments within DSR.
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Meet, and Shelter Manager or the willingness to learn.

Working conditions

  • Remote work, with access to a laptop, tablet, internet, and the phone.
