Dog Star is a 100% Volunteer Organization

Dog Star Rescue’s success truly depends on the efforts of our many volunteers. Without volunteers, we simply could not rescue homeless and abandoned dogs in the South that are placed in high-kill shelters or take in dogs that are local owner-surrenders. Every member of our volunteer roster helps us rescue dogs and place them in new, loving homes, and together, our volunteers are what make Dog Star successful and amazing.

There are many ways that you can volunteer with Dog Star Rescue, each offering more rewards than you could even imagine – not to mention unlimited dog kisses and snuggles.

⭐️AUGUST VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT⭐️ In recognition of his achievements over recent months, our August volunteer of the month is Jim Walter. Jim, who has been a DSR board member for over five years, recently "retired" from the board and with the oversight of the Board started a new Committee, the Advisory Board (AB). Jim has been part of DSR's success since the early days of the rescue and recognized an area of need - providing support to the Board of Directors. The AB will work to provide guidance, support, and recommendations to the DSR Board of Directors. Stay tuned for the official announcement and more information about the AB! Jim’s role as the chair of the AB is to lead the committee, serve as a liaison between the AB and Board of Directors, and to recruit members. He has already successfully recruited members and the AB had their first meeting last month! Check out the listing of members at https://dogstarrescue.org/our-volunteers/. We appreciate Jim's proactiveness in identifying a key area of need for the rescue and thank him for all his years of service as a Board member for DSR! Thank you Jim!
