- Administer Owner Surrender (OS) Process for dogs adopted from DSR.
- Respond to surrender requests from owners of non-DSR dogs within 24 hours.
- Attend DSR behavior clinics as needed to perform any OS duties and assist the Behavior Team with dog evaluations.
Duties
- Oversee administration of DSR Owner Surrenders per DSR Owner Surrender Process communicating with Behavior team during the entire process. Work with the Medical & Behavior Director as necessary.
- Update Shelter Manager Profile for OS dogs ensuring information is accurate throughout the profile.
- Coordinate with Foster and/or Kennel Leadership to establish a location for the dog upon surrender.
- Communicate by email with owners of both DSR and non-DSR dogs.
- Attend DSR behavior clinics as needed to assist with owner surrender evaluations.
- Facilitate the surrender of dogs working with the owner.
- Assist with the acclimation of the dog once surrendered and ensure the dog either goes to a foster or is settled in a DSR kennel.
- Assist with evaluation of non-OS dogs during the DSR behavior clinic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communications, along with interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with diverse personalities.
- Problem solver, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Good time management skills, responding to any communication within 24 hours (text, email, phone calls).
- Passionate about dogs, with a basic understanding of canine behavior, ability to interact positively with dogs of all breeds and sizes.
- Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Meet, and Shelter Manager, or the willingness to learn.
Time Commitment Per Week
- 7 to 10 hours per week depending on the number of owner surrender requests.
