Members of the public wishing to foster or adopt a rescue dog will have the opportunity this Saturday
JULY 11, BLOOMFIELD, CT – Dog Star Rescue will host a large adoption event this Saturday, July 15, from 12 pm to 2 pm at its headquarters on Tobey Road in Bloomfield, CT. With over 80 dogs in the rescue, this event is an opportunity for members of the community to save lives of dogs in need by either adopting or fostering.
“Shelters and rescues across the country are full for many reasons, and ours is no exception,” says Dan McCabe, Founder and President of Dog Star Rescue. “Without adopters or foster homes to place our dogs, we cannot bring in other dogs from overwhelmed shelters that need us. It’s essential that we come together as a community to continue saving dogs’ lives.”
According to Best Friends Animal Society, 4.4 million pets entered America’s shelters in 2022, and only 39% of pet adoptions came from shelters and rescues. Purchasing pets from breeders is gaining popularity and with the availability of fosters decreasing, getting these deserving dogs adopted is particularly challenging.
Dog Star Rescue’s weekly adoption events feature most of the dogs available for adoption (except dogs under 16 weeks). For the July 15th event, adoptable dogs will be accompanied by a volunteer handler who can provide information about their respective dog. Those in attendance can meet the dogs one-on-one, and work with a screener on site to determine if they are a good fit. Potential adopters will need to submit an adoption application at Dog StarRescue.org several days ahead of the event so that volunteers can screen that eligibility requirements are met. If an approved applicant finds their perfect match, they will bring their new furry family member home that same day.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event and experience what these events are like. Information about volunteering and fostering can also be provided.
Dog Star Rescue hosts adoption events every Saturday, and each event requires many volunteers, fosters and adopters to make them successful. If interested persons can’t make it this week, they should keep checking DogStarRescue.org, as well as Dog Star Rescue’s Facebook and Instagram accounts for more events and opportunities to get involved.
