We have some exciting news! Dog Star Rescue will have a permanent home!
March 25, 2024 – Bloomfield CT – For years we’ve dreamed of having a facility that we own, so we are thrilled to announce that these dreams are now becoming reality. Dog Star Rescue has entered an agreement to purchase a building at 20 Northwood Dr. in Bloomfield CT, and will be doing a significant amount of construction in the coming months in order to make it a perfect facility for us and our rescue dogs.
The new building will include:
- Improved kennel space for dogs who aren’t currently in a foster home, as well as more kennels than we have currently
- Plenty of indoor space for adoption events which will be especially helpful in inclement weather
- Outdoor space for adoption events and dog exercising
- Storage space for donations, foster supplies and more
- A designated veterinary care area as well a designated quarantine room
- Meeting rooms for meet and greets
- An area for dog bathing
- A laundry room
- And flexible spaces for training and much more
We know that you have plenty of questions and we will do our best to provide answers as soon as we have them.
What we can share right now:
- We will be doing significant construction of the interior space in order to make the current building suitable for our needs
- We are working with the town of Bloomfield CT and other agencies to ensure we meet all requirements
- We will be in our current location – 12 Tobey Road Bloomfield CT – until we are ready to move. This is expected to be 6-12+ months from now, and we will keep folks updated on our progress as the project enters key stages.

- We will be unveiling a capital fundraising campaign soon, including opportunities for businesses and individuals to sponsor kennels, rooms, our Star Yard, equipment and so much more.
